IMPORTANT TRUTHS TO KNOW ABOUT PRAYER (PART 1)

First begin with a clean heart before the Lord. “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”(Psalm 51:10-12). Any unconfessed sins will hinder your connection with the Lord. “ But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2). You don’t need to confess your sins to man, but to the Lord. If you have done something wrong against someone then you need to try and go to that person and make things right and ask for forgiveness. If they don’t hear you or forgive you, at least you have done your part, because if they don’t forgive then God won’t forgive them either. “Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.”(Matthew 5: 23,24).“I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.” (Psalm 32:5). “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16). “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13). There is a time to confess your faults to others, especially when you need prayer for something. Fervent prayer means to be sincere and even desperate. There is a time when you really need to get desperate with the Lord. Remember the most important, and valuable thing you have is your relationship with Jesus, and you need to guard it at all times, and at all costs. We need to work on our relationship with the Lord. We can’t earn salvation by our works, but we can work on our relationship with Jesus. The devils main job is to destroy your relationship with the Lord. Sometimes it’s good to just say a general prayer asking God for his forgiveness for all our sins, even the ones we are not aware of, but God is. “ mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head:” (Psalm 40:12b).

Say this prayer to be saved: Jesus, I want to know you, and to live forever in Heaven, I know I have made mistakes and done bad things- and I am sorry. I believe that you were crucified on the cross and died for all my sins, and rose from the dead. Please forgive me of all my sins. I know I don’t deserve it, but I accept your love and I accept you as my Saviour. Please come into my heart and life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me peace. Amen.

WHO DO YOU PRAY TO ?

“that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;  and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,” (Philippians 2:10 & 11a). Some people pray straight to God the Father. I think it is presumptuous to pray straight  to God. “Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”  (John 10:7-9). “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6). We should pray to Jesus because in so doing we are praying to God and the Holy Spirit also at the same time. In fact God won’t hear or answer prayers any other way, except going through his Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” (James 2:19). You can begin your prayer “Dear Jesus”, and end your prayer by saying in “Your Precious Name Jesus”. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”(Acts 4:12). “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” (Hebrew 13:8).Jesus told his disciples to pray to The Father in His Name, because if he told them to pray to him it would have been a “hard saying” and they couldn’t have handled it. They didn’t even believe in him fully yet, when he said this to them in Matthew 6:9 and John 15:16. They didn’t know totally who he was yet. Only after he was crucified and died and rose from the dead did they fully believe that he was the Only Begotten Son of God, and one with God. “I and my Father are One.” (John 10:30). There are a lot of people named Jesus, especially in Mexico. So you can say Jesus Christ. God knows your heart and he knows which Jesus you are praying too, but you should  say, “Dear Jesus Christ” when you pray. Jesus made it clear how important names are in John 3:16 when he said, he was “The Only Begotten Son of God” There is only one “Only Begotten Son of God”. The rest of us are adopted sons and daughters of God when we receive Jesus Christ as our Saviour.  “But as many as received him to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his Name.” (John 1:12). “ For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”. (1Timothy 2:5). Jesus is not only our Lord and Saviour, and King of Kings, but also our High Priest. “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15) In the Old Testament the High Priest would enter into the Holy of Holies in the Temple where the Ark of The Covent was and the Shekinah Glory of God abode there, and if the Lord was angry at the people because of their sins he would strike the High Priest dead and the other lower Priests would pull his body out which had a rope tied to it, because they were afraid to go into the presence of God. Can you imagine some Jew just walking in to the Holy of Holies and flipping back the immense curtain which separated the Holy of Holies from the rest of the Temple, and saying, Listen GOD, I want to talk to you about something. This is exactly what people are doing when they think that they can just pray straight to our Heavenly Father and not pray to Jesus our High Priest. You have to go through Jesus when you pray and praying to him is praying to God. ” he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; ” (John 14:9b). So if you want God and Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, (The Trinity) to hear and answer your prayers, then pray to Jesus Christ. I don’t know about you, but it makes me feel a whole lot closer to God, and Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, by praying without ceasing, and trying to listen and talk to Jesus, than going around thinking that I can go directly to God, and then saying  “In Jesus Name” after praying. I have heard many preachers Self righteously start their prayers with “Heavenly Father, or Father God”, and say their whole prayer to God, and sometimes at the end of their prayer they will say, “In Jesus Name”. Who are we to go straight to God and pray to him? It would be better to start our prayers with “Dear Lord  Jesus Christ”, and end our prayers with “In Your Precious Name Jesus”. God, and Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit want us to get this right. It’s about time we did, don’t you think? “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30). “I and my Father are one.” (John 10:30). Jesus did not say that he and the Father are one and the same. Jesus was saying that he is one with the Father and the Holy Spirit in Unity of Spirit, in heart and thought. But he is the Only way to the Father. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6). Look, this is the way it is. Who do you think you are? You don’t just go around Self righteously spouting off your prayers to God especially if you want to have them answered. You have got to go through Jesus because that is the way God wants it. This is his terms and conditions.  Sure Jesus told his Disciples to pray saying “Our Father which art in Heaven”, this is because they didn’t fully believe on him yet, and if he told them that they should just pray to him to reach the Father, they would not have been able to handle it. Like when Jesus said in John Chapter 6:54 “Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day” Many of Jesus’s followers left him and said, “this is an hard saying ,who can bear it.” If this is to much of a hard saying for you, and you can not bear it then go ahead and say your prayer to God, but you better say in The Name of Jesus Christ when you finish going straight to God the Father, and I hope he will have mercy on you and hear your prayer because you didn’t know any better, and this was to much of a hard saying for you to bear. Jesus told his disciples “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.” ( John 16:12). Can you?

Say this prayer to be saved: Jesus, I want to know you, and to live forever in Heaven, I know I have made mistakes and done bad things- and I am sorry. I believe that you were crucified on the cross and died for all my sins, and rose from the dead. Please forgive me of all my sins. I know I don’t deserve it, but I accept your love and I accept you as my Saviour. Please come into my heart and life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me peace. In Jesus Christ Precious Name. Amen.

The Hem of His Garment ( text)

There is a beautiful true story in the Bible about a poor woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years, one day she heard about Jesus and all the miracles he was doing. She heard how he was healing all the people who were sick and came unto him, even the people who had the dreaded disease of leprosy, and the blind, and the deaf, and even raising the dead. She heard that he was coming to her town. She just had to meet him. She managed to bring herself down to the main road where he was sure to pass by. There was already a great crowd of people waiting when she got there. Suddenly someone said, ” here he comes”. By this time the crowd was so big that she was worried that she wouldn’t even be able to get near him. The disciples were all around him making away through the crowd so Jesus could get by. Suddenly he walked near her. She still couldn’t get close to him. She said within herself. If I could just reach out and touch the hem of his garment I would be healed. She was on the ground at this time . She reached out by someones feet, (probably one of the disciples), and touched the hem of his garment. Jesus immediately stopped and said to his disciples” Who touched me”? The disciples said, the whole crowd is thronging you, and you asked who touched you? He reached down to the woman and said, “daughter be of good comfort, thy faith hath made the whole” and the woman was healed. And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: for she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.”( Luke 8:40-48, and  Matthew 9:20-22). Oh, won’t you reach out by faith and touch the hem of his garment? He is passing by and wants to make you whole.

Say this prayer if you want to be saved: Jesus, I want to know you, and to live forever in Heaven, I know I have made mistakes and done bad things- and I am sorry. Please forgive me. I know I don’t deserve it, but I accept your love and I accept you as my Saviour. I believe you died on the cross for my sins ,and rose from the dead. Please come into my heart and life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me peace. Amen.

Prayer of Jabez

“And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”(1 Chronicles 4:10)

Say this prayer to be saved: Jesus, I want to know you, and to live forever in Heaven, I know I have made mistakes and done bad things- and I am sorry. Please forgive me. I know I don’t deserve it, but I accept your love and I accept you as my Saviour. I believe you died on the cross for my sins ,and rose from the dead. Please come into my heart and life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me peace. Amen.

HOW TO PRAY

1.) First begin with a clean heart before the Lord. There is a time when you really need to get desperate with the Lord.Remember the most important, and valuable thing you have is your relationship with Jesus, and you need to guard it at all times, and at all costs.

2.) Praise and thank the Lord for all his goodness, and mercies, and blessings. “ I WILL bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”( Psalm 34:1). Instead of just jumping into prayer asking God to do this and that. We need to show some respect and honor to the King of Kings. You wouldn’t just go wondering up in front of a King and demand him to do things. How much more respect should we show to our Almighty Lord and Savior. It is good to praise the Lord, it’s like priming a pump to get the water flowing. We need to get Gods Spirit flowing. We need to be humble before the Lord. “ He hath shown thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8). “By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.” (Proverbs 22:4).

3.) Pray for others before praying for yourself. Pray for the Missionaries who are Gods front line soldiers on the battlefield against the devil. Pray for lost souls. “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them. Because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”  (Matthew 9:36-38). Pray for those who are in prison for the Gospels sake. “Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them;” (Hebrews 13:3a). There are many people and situations to pray for before praying for ourselves. The Lord will lead you, just ask him.

4.) Next pray for yourself and your needs. “Ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you.” ( Matthew 7:7). “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” ( Philippians 4:19). “Delight thyself also in the Lord ; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” (Psalm 37:4). “Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” (James 4;3). God always answers prayer. He says yes, no, or wait. Waiting on the Lord is one of the hardest lessons we all have to, and need to, learn.

5.) We need to have faith when we ask the Lord for something. “ But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is , and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6). Take a stand of FAITH on God’s promises in his word. You have got to quote the terms of the contract (The BIBLE) to the contract maker (God ) ! “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32;27). “Thus saith the Lord, the Holy one of Israel, (JESUS) and his Maker (GOD). Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.” (Isaiah 45:11). “ Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5,6). The Lord wants you to grow spiritually in faith in him, and not lean on your own understanding or someone else’s faith. But have your own faith in him and his Word. Here are some good verses that you can claim and even quote them to Jesus when you pray. “As thou hast believed , so be it done unto thee.”(Matthew 8:13). “Jesus saith unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” (Mark 9:23). “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”(Luke 1:37). “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”(James 1:1-6). Don’t doubt and be double minded with your prayers if you want God to answer them. “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”(Mark 11:23), Don’t doubt in your heart. “Verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”(Matthew 17:20).

6.) The purpose of this class is to help give you some basic lessons about prayer. For those who already know all of this information, I hope this will be an inspiring review. I know it is for me. The Lord knows that you can’t always go exactly by these seven guidelines. Sometimes time and circumstances just wont allow you to follow all of these important points, but when you do make time for the Lord to pray, its good to remember this class and follow it as best as you can. Remember to “Pray without ceasing.” (IThessalonians 5;17). Prayer is something you can always be doing no matter what else you are doing. Also don’t forget to listen to the Lord. “Be still and know that I am God.”( Psalm 46;10a). The Lord often speaks in a still small voice You’ve spoken your peace, let God speak his. “And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire, and after the fire; a still small voice.” ( I Kings 19:12). “ And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, this is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”. ( Isaiah 30:21). It helps to get quiet and listen to hear the still small voice of God.

7.) Finally don’t forget to pray in the name of Jesus. There is wonder working power in his name.“Whatsoever ye shall ask of the father in my name, he may give it you.”( John 15;16 b). “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name that will I do,that the father may be glorified in the son. If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.” ( John 14;13,14 ). “ Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” ( John 14:6 ).

Say this prayer to be saved: Jesus, I want to know you, and to live forever in Heaven, I know I have made mistakes and done bad things- and I am sorry. Please forgive me. I know I don’t deserve it, but I accept your love and I accept you as my Saviour.I  believed you died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. Please come into my heart and life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me peace. Amen.

TAKE TIME TO PRAY

If your day is hemmed with prayer it is less likely to come unraveled. Prayer moves the hand of God which moves the Mountains. Satan trembles when he sees the weakest saint on his knees. The picture of strength is the picture of the sinner on his knees. Build your house upon the rock Jesus Christ and when the storms of life come it will not be washed away. “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and  the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”( Matthew 7:24-27). It is out of fashion to talk about Hell, but Hell is not out of business. The reason for so many earthquakes, and volcanoes, other than a sign of the end times, is because hell needs more room for all the people going there.“Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.”(Isaiah 5:14,& 14:9 ).“ For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.” (Matthew 24:7), “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so ,Amen.” (Revelation 1:7). Aren’t you glad that you don’t have to go to Hell, and have that fear hanging over you all the time? If you have asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart, then that is one major fear that you don’t have to worry about forever ! I got up early one morning and rushed right into the day. I had so much to accomplish that I didn’t have time to pray. Problems just tumbled about me and heavier came each task. I wondered why God didn’t help me, he said, but you didn’t ask. I got up early this morning and paused before entering the day .I have so much to accomplish that I have to take time to pray.

Say this prayer to be saved: Jesus, I want to know you, and to live forever in Heaven, I know I have made mistakes and done bad things- and I am sorry. Please forgive me. I know I don’t deserve it, but I accept your love and I accept you as my Saviour. Please come into my heart and life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me peace. Amen.

MATTHEW CHAPTER 6 ” THE LORD’S PRAYER”

 THE LORD’S PRAYER

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. 14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; 18 that thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 and yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

GOD CAN DO ANYTHING BUT FAIL

The difficult he does immediately. The impossible may or may not take a little longer. God can do anything, anything, anything, God can do anything but fail, He can save, he can heal, just believe and he will.God can do anything but fail ! So never give up, never take no for an answer, unless the Lord says no. Where there is a will there is a way, and there is nothing too hard for Jesus if you will just give him a chance. We know Lord that you can do it, and we know that you will do it if we just believe and trust in you! You will always make a way if we do it your way, if we believe and trust in you. You always turn things around for good Lord. You always are there for us to get us out of the many jams we get ourselves into. Help us not to limit you Lord, the Holy One of Israel. Just step out on the water, and keep your eyes upon Jesus and you wont start to sink beneath the waves, and if you do happen to take your eyes off of Jesus for a little while, and start to sink, just cry out to him and he will immediately stretch out his hand to save you.“All things work together for good to them that love the Lord.” (Romans 8:28). If we do all we can do, God will do the rest that we cannot do. God is an expert at the impossible.“For with God nothing shall be impossible.”(Luke 1:37). “All things are possible to those that believe.” (Mark 9:23). Got any Rivers, or Oceans you think are impassible? Got any mountains you think you can’t get over? Our God is an awesome God, and he can do what no other friend can do! God is on the Throne and prayer changes things. In Jesus Name!

Amen.

HEARING THE VOICE GOD

“When the enemy shall come in like a flood ,the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” (Isaiah 59:19b). When the enemy tries to condemn you and remind you of your past mistakes and sins. Just say, “thank you Jesus for forgiving me for that one. “You can’t keep the birds from flying over your head but you can keep them from landing and making a nest in your hair! So don’t listen to the lies of the devil, but fill your heart and mind with positive faith building thoughts from His Word. “Finally my brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”(Philippians 4:11).The most important thing to learn is how to hear from the Lord, fresh everyday, and get your directions from him. You have got to spend some time alone with Jesus if you don’t want to stumble through the day.” I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.’ (Proverbs 8: 17). Begin with a clean heart. Ask the Lord to forgive you for all your sins and give you a clean heart before him “Create in me a clean heart ,0 God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.” (Psalm 51: 10-12 ). “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him and bless his name.” (Psalm 100:4). Take time to thank and praise him. It’s like priming the pump. Take time to listen to the Lord. How would you feel if someone came to visit you, and they did all the talking and wouldn’t even let you get in one word, and just turned around and left after asking you to do a bunch of things for them? “Be still and know that I am God”. (Psalm 46:10). Show some respect and reverence. You wouldn’t come into the presence of a king and just start spouting off a bunch of stuff. God speaks in a still small voice. “And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:  and after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.” (I Kings 19 :11,12). ” And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”  (Isaiah 30:21). If you really want to hear from the Lord, and you have faith, and are in the spirit when you ask the Lord for an answer, and are sincerely seeking him, you can take the first thing that comes to you.The first thing that you hear in the ears of your spirit (after you have poured out your heart to him) that will come to you will be from the Lord. He will also speak to you from his Word, or a vision or a thought, or through others, (Consider the source). Always confirm everything by the Word. God uses many different ways to speak to us. It seems like a lot of the time he speaks through a still small voice. Take time to listen to the Lord when you pray, and hear what he wants to say to you. “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found ,call ye upon him while he is near:” (Isaiah 55:6). “Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me ,when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:12,13). Jesus said to get alone with God and Pray. “But thou, when thou prayest, enter in to thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret, and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” (Matthew 6:6). Sometimes the Lord will speak to you with a dream or a vision. “For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;  then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, that he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. He keepeth back his soul from the pit,and his life from perishing by the sword.” (Job 33:14-18). You have to check everything out by the Word. True revelations from God will not contradict the Bible! “If they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” ( Isaiah 8:20) “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:8,9). The Lord is always trying to speak to us and show us new things we have to just tune into his broadcasting station. He even speaks to us through his creation, but don’t worship the creation more than the Creator. ” For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” (Romans 1:20).  The Lord even had to create a t.v. show one time for me to watch to speak to me. When I was working as an armored car operator. I came home and watched this show (Starsky and Hutch) about a guy with my same name who was an armored car driver and had a wife and two kids and was living in apartment (My exact same situation at the time). When he got home from work there was some bad guys in his apartment holding his wife and kids at gunpoint arranging a robbery, for him to turn over the money to them for release of his family. I quit the next day and a few days later the truck I was driving was held up and a gun battle took place and one of the Armored car guys was shot and one killed. Thank God I listened, and you will be too. Jesus Loves You, and wants you to be in close communication with him. There needs to be special times when we have desperate prayer to the Lord, when you cry out to him with your whole heart, and on your face alone with God,and not just on your knees, but with tears and sincere desperation, and even prostrate yourself before him. One time God even made a donkey to speak.  And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.  And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab. And God’s anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the Lord stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him. And the ass saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way. But the angel of the Lord stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side. And when the ass saw the angel of the Lord, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall: and he smote her again. And the angel of the Lord went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left. And when the ass saw the angel of the Lord, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam’s anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff. And the Lord opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?  And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.  And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay. Then the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.  And the angel of the Lord said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me: and the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved her alive. And Balaam said unto the angel of the Lord, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again. And the angel of the Lord said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.”(Numbers 22:20-35). So be on the look out, and be alert and tuned into God, He wants to speak to you today. Will you make time to listen?
